XM Studio Support

For XM Studio questions, feedback or a problem you cannot resolve here, contact me through hello@mablook.com. XM Studio is an independent application by mablook, not an official Sony application.
Before you start
Use a Windows x64 PC with Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, and Bluetooth. XM Studio includes profiles for WH-1000XM5, WF-1000XM5, WH-1000XM6 and WF-1000XM6. The interface is in English.
- Pair your headset in Windows Bluetooth settings.
- Make sure it is connected and selected as an audio device where appropriate.
- Open XM Studio and allow it to detect the headset.
The Microsoft Store release is being prepared. The product page will show a download link once availability has been confirmed.
Headphones are not detected or commands fail
Confirm the headset is powered on, paired and connected in Windows. Reconnect it and reopen XM Studio. The control connection uses a Bluetooth service that Windows must be able to open; audio playback alone does not confirm that the control service is accessible.
If another headphone-control application is open, close it temporarily and retry. Include the model, firmware version if known, Windows version and the exact error when asking for help. Do not repeatedly reset or remove all your Bluetooth devices as a first step.
Controls and equalizer settings
Available settings depend on the headset model and firmware. The equalizer layout follows the device's supported bands. Noise controls can be disabled while the headset is disconnected or another command is running.
If a setting does not apply, wait for the current command to finish, check the connection and try again. When reporting a problem, describe the control, the value selected and the result shown.
Window, tray and keyboard shortcuts
Depending on your preferences, closing the window can leave XM Studio in the system tray. Use the tray menu to reopen it or choose Exit to close the app. Starting the current version again restores the existing instance.
Configure shortcuts from Device settings. If a combination is already used by Windows or another app, choose a different one. For an MSIX installation, Windows manages startup through Settings > Apps > Startup.
What to include in a support request
- XM Studio version and Windows version.
- Headset model and firmware version, if known.
- What you expected, what happened and the steps to reproduce it.
- The error message or a screenshot, if useful.
A startup or crash issue may leave details in xm5ui-startup.log in the app's local data directory, normally %LOCALAPPDATA%\SonyHeadphonesControl. Windows packaging may redirect that location. Send only a relevant excerpt if needed; remove personal paths, device names or other information you do not want to share.
Read the privacy policy for details of local data and optional external services. No logs are sent automatically.
